The Marked and The Monsters

Post by Danry on Sat Apr 08, 2017 10:17 pm

"There are lots of ways to keep a secret. Lying, cheating, stealing... but those are too muddy. Too complicated. If you have a secret to tell, the only way to keep it safe is to kill anyone else that knows about it."

-Ian Erikkson

Seated in a dimly lit room was a young man, apparently in his early to mid twenties with dark straight hair brushed forward with the sides buzzed short. One leg was crossed over the other casually and his arms were spread out on the back of the couch; he'd clearly made himself at home. The male was dressed just as comfortably, with a black hooded leather jacket, t-shirt, and loose-fitting jeans in good condition. A set of bracelets, anklets, and a collar dangled from his extremities. Against the black, grey, and red of his outfit, the steel cuffs stood as drastic contrasts, as well as constant reminders of the fact that he had, in fact, become a prisoner of a war fought behind closed doors with weapons made from budget reforms and data analysis.

Through a speaker embedded in the wall to his left came a voice, rattling and rasping to life just enough to grate on the young man's nerves. "Mr. Erikkson, I'm going to ask you a series of questions, and I'd like you to answer them as honestly as possible. As with all previous sessions, any actions deemed dangerous by security will result in immediate reprimanding."

'Reprimanding,' Ian thought. He knew exactly what that meant. Fifteen to twenty amps surging through his unusual body, enough to cause a big mess, a huge headache, and a lot of paperwork.

Doctor Frasier continued. "The purpose of today's interview is to evaluate your emotional and physiological state and determine whether you are fit and capable to continue the program, or if you should be terminated."

Ian's form slowly began to shift, his neck becoming impossibly long as it slid through the air, admiring the fake decorations that would make the room seem more expensive than it really was. "Come now, doctor. You and I both know that you're already going to terminate me. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow. Eventually it will happen, but the only question you should be asking yourself is whether or not you will be successful."

"Ian," replied the doctor. "... The last study measured your dependence to the H42 serum and the effects of short-term inaccessibility. How did that make you feel, physically?"

"Doctor Frasier. We've been doing these tests for nine years now, and do you want to know what I learned?" Ian's face turned back to the microphone on the table and whispered softly. "You have a wife at home. Three little children, not one older than eight. I learned that you enjoy taking them on hikes, going to the movies, going to the beach, and playing board games." A smile crept upon Ian's lips, a devious smile that could make a cat's hair stand on end.

"I know that you eat dinner promptly at 6:30 in the evening, in bed by 11, and you are out of the house no later than 7:15. I also learned that your wife takes care of business after you leave, then showers, and lays down with your children until they are ready to wake up for homeschooling." The silence on the other side of the speaker spoke volumes, for a sudden wash of fear and discovery befell Doctor Frasier like a tidal wave.

"I know your address. I know your schedule. I know your habits, and the habits of your family. I also found out how to send a message to the outside world. Now then... what is it that you want to know, doctor?"

The day was overcast, chilly, a soft biting breeze whispering through the autumn leaves, rustling the dying branches. The park was nearly empty save for a young teen, barely thirteen and a pale young girl. The teen was skating around the sidewalk, blissfully unaware of the eyes constantly watching him. And the girl.. She was the one watching.

She was sitting with her right leg crossed over her left, one hand gripping a black lace parasol with gloved fingers. A tiny top hat positioned crookedly on her head, a tiny pink bow on the rim. Her attire was out of place for that day; a tight corset dress, tutu under the skirt, colored pink, black, and white. Lace combat boots to her knees, striped stockings barely poking from the top. Her shoulder length white hair hung in soft waves, bangs obscuring her heterochromic eyes heavily blackened with eyeshadow. The expression on her face was void, her gaze on the boy. He was the one.

After a few moments of contemplation she stood up, brushed off her skirt, and began walking towards the boy. She didn't go directly up to him, and she didn't walk in his path, she just barely made it into his field of vision. The sound of wheels on sidewalk stopped, and she knew she'd gotten his attention.

"Whoa, sick ink." The boy exclaimed, jogging up to her. He blocked her path, his wide eyes on the colorful tattoo on her upper left bicep.

"Thanks." The girls voice came out chipper, but soft, a wide smile on her face. A drastic change from moments before.

"Are you even old enough for that? Where'd you get it?" His eyes moved from her tattoo to her face and back again.

"I know a place that does underage ink, it's a bit pricey but parentals don't have to sign for permission. Why? You looking to get a tat?" Fidgeting on her feet she brushed some hair from her face.

"Dude! Can you show me?"

Her smile widened a fraction, a bit more sinister. "Sure." She paused. "My names Mia, I'd be happy to show you."

"You son of a bitch... what did you do?!" The doctor had lost his temper already, and was doing a very good job of playing Ian's game. Sweat beaded on Fraiser's brow as his cellphone continued to ring. No one answered, which only drove his anger and madness further. "What did you do!?"

Another surge of electricity coursed through Ian's body, causing him to literally jut sharply in several directions. He growled loudly as the pain and spamming subsided, but kept the sneer on his face, a toothy defiant grin that spat in the faces of his captors. "What's wrong? Trouble at home? Oo... tsk tsk tsk... you really should pay more attention." Another zap and a scream of pain. Ian knew that he needed only to wait a little longer. His moment would come. "Tell you what... we will make it a game. If you can guess the number in my head, I will tell you where they are. But if you can't... well, you can figure out the rest.

Finally, after what felt like hours, the door behind him slid to the side. In came several security personnel, followed by Dr. Frasier himself. Each paramilitary soldier carried special rifles equipped with electrifying ammunition, designed specifically to handle Ian and his Manifestations. He chuckled a bit as he watched them file in two-by-two, silently studying each and every one of them, particularly the doctor.

"I have a new game, Ian. How about you tell me where my family is and I won't order these strapping young soldiers to fill your body with enough electricity to power an entire city block."

"Idle threats, doctor," Ian replied confidently. They both knew that killing him would do Frasier no good. "Remove the collars, and I will be happy to share with you their whereabouts, and to make sure that they are not harmed. Ian had no guarantee that it would be enough to buy his freedom, but there was always room for optimism. After all, he had managed to survive all the brutal and torturous testing and experimenting. Who said he couldn't have his freedom.

Hesitantly, Dr. Frasier sighed as he reached into his pocket. Removing a cloth from the ride side, he began to clean his glasses, then spoke softly. "Deactivate the collars. If he makes a move, kill him." The words were icy and cold, but they were music to Ian's ears. What better outcome could he have hoped for?

Mia led the boy to the edge of the park where a black sedan with blacked out windows was waiting. A man got out of the driver side and walked around to open the door. The boy hesitated, but Mia just smiled and motioned towards the car. "Don't mind him. He's my butler, Jared."

The man gave her a dry, unamused look, but nodded in agreement. "That is hella awesome." The boy whispered in awe, as he stepped into the vehicle.

The look on Mia's face went back to the void, detached expression and she slid into the car. Jared closed the door and got back into the car. Turning to face the boy, Mia pulled a pen and a clipboard from the side door pocket. "Before you get your tat you have to sign a waiver."

"A waiver? What for?" He asked.

"It's just saying that you understand you're getting a tat though you're underage, and you'll not eat them out." She explained. She was growing impatient with this boy.

"Oh okay." He clicked the pen and signed his name. Seconds later he was slumped over in his seat, out cold. The pen had a small needle in the clicker that injected a powerful tranquilizer. With a bored look on her face, Mia rolled down the window and tossed the paper out into the park.

"Go. It's done." The man driving the car wordlessly started the car and took off back to the facility to drop off the boy.

Re: The Marked and The Monsters

After a few moments of obvious confusion, one of the guards moved toward him with a special key in his hand. One by one, the collars were unlocked and removed, the weight of which had been denying Ian his freedom for so many years. Though he was not officially free, it felt wonderful to have those horrible metal rings removed at long last. Ian pulled himself back into his very human-looking form and stood before the doctor and his escort. Though he had learned how to imitate another person, Ian found it most comfortable to assume his natural form.

"Oh wow... that was almost orgasmic," Ian spoke through a chuckle. "Now then... you've fulfilled your end of the bargain, now I will fulfill mine." Taking a step toward the doctor prompted each guard to raise their rifles, pointing directly at Ian's chest. All they had to do was hit him; it didn't matter where. "Huh, if I didn't know better i'd say that none of you trust me. How hurtful..." Ian enjoyed sarcasm quite a bit, especially when he had the opportunity to use it on another person.

"Just tell me where they are, you prick. I swear to God if you hurt them..."

"Quiet," Ian commanded. "You are in no position to make threats." His words were fiery and absolute, rock solid so as to make them completely aware of who was in charge of the situation at that very moment. "Come here. I'll tell you." A few seconds passed and no one moved as one side tested the resolve of the other. When Ian did not waver, the doctor took a few steps forward until he had closed the distance between them. Ian could smell the powerful cologne on Frasier's sports coat, mixed with the odor of sweat pouring from his armpits and brow.

"Good. That's a good little doctor. Now pay attention, because i'm only going to say this once." Leaning forward to speak in Frasier's ear, Ian smiled and began to whisper. "I'm disappointed," he said, just before the doctor's escort fell to the floor, their cries of surprise and confusion muffled by the presence of blood in their throats and lungs. Doctor Frasier, himself, was quickly wrapped in long back tendrils, squeezing him tightly enough to make it uncomfortable to breath. He looked upon Ian with angry eyes, not surprised by the betrayal but angry for not taking more precautions.

"I'm a man of my word... more or less... so i'll tell you. Your family is fine; i'm not the monster you made me to be. When they received 'your message' about going to the lake, where there is no cellphone service, they left immediately. They won't be harmed. You, however..." Ian pulled the lifeless guards into the room with them, then hoisted Frasier a foot or so into the air. "You won't be so lucky. You will die, painfully, for what you did to me, and to everyone else you've kept captive here."

"Damn you... go to hell!" Doctor Frasier's words hissed like air from a balloon, desperately trying to appeal to Ian's better nature. With a cold, angry face, Ian constricted him further, breaking each rib starting from the bottom. Next were the arms, then the legs, and finally the spine. Blood leaked from Frasier's orifices as the last dying breath escaped his lungs. Dropping him in a heap to the floor, Ian looked upon the corpse and stated coldly: "Save me a spot." With that, he snatched up keys, key cards, IDs, and a rifle and darted through the halls, practically chomping at the bit to take his first steps toward freedom.

Arriving at the facility was a mess, unlike usual, which meant that something happened. Guards approached the car, some took the boy, the others flanked Mia, one in front leading them. She was led to a room, where a captive was usually kept for questioning, and the sight that befell her made her mind spin. A doctor and some subordinates were piled in the room, all dead, and inside she squealed with joy. The blood, the death, it made a part of her itch to touch the cold bodies, her eyes wide.

"You need to find the escapee."

The voice pulled her from her own fantasies, and her expression went back to empty. "Picture." Was all she said, moments later she was handed a Manila folder, a profile inside. "Leave." Flipping open the folder she skimmed the profile, the mans picture burning in her skull. Mia moved around the room examining but not touching, when she finally came around to the chair. Lightly brushing her fingers across it, she tensed.

Inhaling sharply, Mia's knees gave out and she crumpled to the floor. Her eyes were wide, white, her breath ragged as images like still photos flashed in her head. The mans face, scenery, he had keys, I.D.'s, and a weapon. He was moving. Going somewhere. But where, exactly? Gasping, she blinked rapidly and stared at the ceiling, a light sweat covering her body. Her visions only showed a possible future, and glances of the present. They were random, and painful. Never fluid.

Lying on the cold floor, she wondered what the images meant. Where was he? Where was he going? There was only one way in and one way out. She needed to leave. Locate him. Why? Because it was the only way to silence the darkness in her mind. The only chance she had to survive. If she stopped obeying, Mia would be terminated. A casualty when you knew too much.

Every corridor looked the same, and though Ian did not know where he was going, he was smart enough to reason his way through it. He moved quickly, sure that he was under surveillance, until he finally located what he had been searching for all along. Sliding one of the access cards he had lifted from a deceased guard, Ian opened the door to the kitchen, much to the surprise of the workers inside. They had to feed their employees and experiments, after all.

It took only a moment to locate the garbage chute; his ticket to freedom. After smashing the gun under the grip of his tendril-like appendage, Ian dove into the refuse pipe and road it to freedom. Sweet, smelly, disgusting freedom.

The outside world was dark and strange, a foreign sight to his eyes. He blinked over and over until his eyes adjusted to the lack of illumination, then pushed through the trash and out into the grass. He was still on the facility grounds, so he could not say he was free just yet, but that didn't stop him. He broke into a sprint, hell bound for the perimeter fence. Breaking through the chain link barrier was a simple task, but he didn't stop there. The downtown area wasn't far away, and that would be the perfect place to blend in and plan his next move.

Just as Mia was standing up a wave of nausea hit her. The smell of garbage nearly overwhelmed her, and she dropped back to the floor. She felt air on her face, fresh air, the smell of garbage mixing with it. She saw trees, the road; there was a town nearby. With a gasp she sat up straight and noticed a few men around her.

"You know where he is?"

Mia gave the man a blank, bored stare. She rarely talked to these people. It wasn't part of her "job", they meant little to her. They were cannon fodder, a human shield for the doctors and higher ups, herself on occasion. Fleshy shields with a pulse. Oh, how she hated them.

"Find him. Bring him back. No one is going with you but you will be monitored. Fuck up and you're terminated." The men left the room.

Mia took a moment to gather herself, then stood and left the building. Walking around to the side where the garbage chute let out she stood and waited. For what she was unsure, but he had been here. That, she knew for a fact

Re: The Marked and The Monsters

The darkness covered Ian's entrance into the city, but staying out of sight was not exactly simple. He needed clothes that didn't look like he'd just escaped the emergency room. Sticking to shadow and alley like a rodent sniffing out its next meal, he managed to locate the back entrance to a clothing store. Gaining entrance was easy enough; a quick vault through the AC duct deposited him within the sales floor of the structure. A quick glance around found a black leather jacket, a pair of nice jeans, and a button-up collared shirt. Distorting his face slightly made him feel a bit better about his chances on being caught. He did not slip them on immediately, but waited until he was outside again to make his escape more simple.

Once clothed, Ian made his way out to the main walkways and blended into the crowd. Having no money was not an issue for him; not morally, anyway. His freedom and his life had been stolen from him, so those he stole from had nothing to complain about. A place to stay, however, was not something he could easily pilfer. Gaining entrance would be simple enough, but it could not be somewhere popular. The young man snatched a map from a nearby street vendor, Ian began to browse the pamphlet for a suitable place to stay, and settled on a Knight's Inn near the outskirts.

The walk took around an hour, but finally he found himself standing outside of what could be argued to be the most nondescript building he could imagine. There were no lights on in the rooms, only one in the office, a light that pulsed randomly, probably cast by a television set. The building itself was drab and unappealing, but seemed to be clean enough to pass inspections at the very least. Ian found an unoccupied room on the second floor that faced the main road and jimmied the mechanical lock with a simple elongation of his finger.

The inside of room 213 was similar to the outside: boring. A bed, a single lamp set on a simple nightstand, a mini fridge, television, and bathroom, nothing more. He moved inside, closed and locked the door, then sat down on the bed. The gravity of the situation was starting to weigh on him, causing him to tremble slightly. It had been so long since he'd seen the outside world; they never let him out once his body changed. Like a hermit he sat against the headboard and watched the window, in case they... whomever 'they' were... decided to come back to collect him.

Tracking down the subject was made difficult, if only by Mia's need to stop every time a new image flooded her mind. She hated seek and find missions, they always took her too long. The latest barrage of images showed a blurring Inn sign and a number, which she could only assume was the room in which he was staying.

It took her a few hours to teach the Knights Inn, but when she did, she felt the familiar pull and she braced herself. Leaning against a wall, she slid down the side her breaths ragged and strained. A dingy bathroom, single bed. A window. She could see the window and the door so she could only assume that he was waiting for her. With a startled gasp Mia opened her eyes staring at the stars for what seemed like an eternity. She got no pleasure from taking people back to that hellhole they were created in, she only did it for self preservation.

Rolling her eyes she stood up and made her way to room 213. For a moment she stood outside the door and contemplated how to enter. Rude, or not. Cause lasting damage to the Inn or leave it alone. Might as well go all out. He was expecting her anyway.

Mia ran her finger down the length of the door, gave it a second, then lifted her booted foot and kicked. Hard. The wood folded like it was paper, blasting off it's hinges and flying into the room with a loud bang. Stepping through the broken frame, she held her parasol to protect her head from debris.

"Time to go home, Ian."

Ian wasn't sure how long he had been sitting on the bed, his legs curled up underneath him like a child sitting near a campfire. The only concept of the passing of time that he had was the slew of cars that drove by. But as the front door came crashing into the room, Ian barely twitched at all. He had been expecting company, of course, but...

"What a rude way to enter a room. Go back and try it again." In his human form, he looked very much like a normal young man. Only the keenest of senses would be able to detect what he had become, but he never banked on that. Ian believed that everyone who knew of his existence knew what he was, and he had no reason to believe that his latest guest was any different.

Slowly, he turned his head toward Mia and quickly sized her up. Deceptively strong, durable no doubt, and that face... he had heard about it before. The icy gaze of hell's minion, the very bloodhound that had been used to collect so many other specimens. "Well bless my soul... I don't know if I should be afraid or honored that you would come after little ol' me."

Some bystanders had already started to investigate the raucous, leaving their rooms to check things out. Some did not, preferring their privacy and anonymity to curiosity. Briefly Ian contemplated what they might think when they see the two among the debris. He hoped they would be afraid.

"I don't suppose you'd like to have a drink first," he asked sarcastically.

Mia stared at Ian, long and hard, her bored gaze not reflecting the excitement brimming on the edge of the heavy barriers inside her mind. The images from earlier that day were seared in her memory, and before her sat the cause of the carnage. How exciting. Closing her parasol, she glanced over her shoulder, her icy stare making the onlookers recoil. She scoffed and tilted her head slightly, one slim eyebrow raising. Idiots.

"A drink would be nice, but I've no doubt it'd be a distraction. No time for pleasantries, it's your head or mine and I like mine where it's at." Mia stepped further into the room; it looked exactly as it did in her visions. Dreary. Depressing.

Her visions came at random times, whether she expected them or not, half the time they were possible outcomes. Now was a very in opportune time for one, but it came anyway. Her body went ridgid, her eyes rolling as her legs folded, her body dropping like lead. It only lasted a moment, the image of city lights, broken bodies. Screaming.

She sat up with a start, her body shaking. Where had that come from? There was no trigger, no warning. Unfortunately it wasn't the time or the place to dwell.

"Let's get this over with, I have places to be."

Just as Mia stared at Ian, he stared right back at her, though his expression may have been more relaxed than hers. He had to admit that the ease by which she destroyed the door was impressive. No doubt she was even stronger than that, doubting highly that she used all of her available force to kick it down. He smirked at Mia, letting his body slowly change into 'beast mode'. His entire body elongated somewhat, skin turning black as pitch. His two human eyes were replaced by six glowing red reptilian-esque orbs, all of which were focused on the girl. When the change was complete, he was closer to the size of a bear, though not as thick in the trunk as one.

Ian's head turned sideways when Mia suddenly fell to the floor. Puzzled, he started to reach out to poke the girl, to see if she was still alive. But shortly following her fit, she was sitting back up, though she looked disturbed and... possibly frightened by what had happened? It seemed that she wasn't as stable as he originally thought, maybe even do a degree to match his own instability.

"You're fooling yourself if you think that's actually true. They don't care about you any more than they care about me. We're their property, and they'll replace you just as soon as they have something better. You're not going to take me back alive. So if you think you can kill me, let's do it." As the last few words left his body, having no mouth to exit from, six thick tendrils slowly extended from his back, each one razor-sharp like the blade of a sword. Each tentacle pointed directly at Mia, ready for her to move, eager to impale her.

"Or, you could drop this whole thing, come have a drink with me, and we can figure out a way to get back at the fuckers who did this to us. Your choice."

Mia stood and brushed herself off, his change in appearance hardly affecting her. The only difference was she had to look up to speak. "You seem to be under the impression that I have a choice. I do not. There are some people who would be gravely disappointed if I brought back your deceased body.." She paused, and the corners of her lips twitched up into a grin, her eyes changing to a deep red, with white pupils. "..but if that's how you want to play.."

While the barriers in her mind remained intact, a tiny sliver was opened up, and the urges for bloodshed she had suppressed were pushing forward. Her grin widened, as she toyed with the handle to her parasol, her thumb hitting a small button, blades protruding from the edges. She popped the parasol open and the blades shot at him aimed at his torso.

"Let's do this~"

It had been a long time since Ian was allowed to really stretch out and exercise his full potential. For years he had hidden talents from the researchers and doctors, never trusting them enough to know all of his secrets. Life needed surprises to be interesting. As the blades came toward him, Ian positioned his arm between them, the body of which stretching out and hardening into something akin to a shield made of metal, which deflected the flying knives. After they dropped to the floor, Ian launched an attack of his own.

The six appendages that had grown from his torso shot toward the girl at three different angels: two on each side and two straight up the front. It wasn't the most strategic of moves, but it wasn't exactly clumsy. The tips of each tendril were razor sharp, meant to impale and skewer the girl if she wasn't able to thwart the attack. He had every confidence that she would; she wouldn't have been the agency's lapdog if it were so easy to kill her. "Then I guess you'll be going back with a body bag, either with one or in one." The six eyes narrowed in on Mia as he prepared himself for her next move. This is what he was made for.

Mia used her open parasol as a makeshift sword and swatted the tendrils on the left away from her, then turned and blocked the one coming from the right, side stepping barely being missed by the ones coming at her from above. The tendrils pierced the lace, and she closed it, yanking it towards herself and twisting. Jumping back away from him, she lightly tapped her foot on the floor and a small blade popped out from the toe of her boot.

"Don't take me for a fool, Ian. I read your file, I've heard of you. I am not just their plaything." Mia could not fail in bringing him in. She would be terminated and she wasn't ready for that. She needed to survive, to get revenge. They stole her life from her and she had not yet gotten vengeance.

Re: The Marked and The Monsters

While two of the snaking tentacles turned about for another attack, the other four dug into the ceiling, gripping the trusses and pulling them down with the intent to crush Mia. It was a shame that they had to fight. He found her rather attractive, but self-preservation was a necessity. How could he possibly seek revenge from beyond the grave. If God existed, Ian believed himself completely inhuman, and therefore had no place in the heavens. No matter what happened, he had to live long enough to destroy the lives of those who had destroyed his.

In came the two bladed tendrils, slicing at the girl in an effort to keep her distracted. "You've heard of me? I'm flattered to have made such an impact. Honestly... I can't say I've heard anything about you. You must be so important they keep you a secret." The amount of sarcasm dripping from his words could fill a bathtub. He sought specifically to goad the girl on, to force her to attack him, hoping that rage will blind her. "Yet here you are, doing what they want you to do because you're too scared to get off the fucking leash. You are pathetic. Weak. Maybe before I burn that wretched place to the ground and kill everyone inside, I'll take your file and maim anyone you ever cared about. How does that sound?"

Ian's words had little affect of Mia. She had no one she cared about left. Not that she'd really remember them if she did. As part of punishment for not obeying, her family was murdered. Of course the "killer" was never found according to the police file but she knew who did it. She was alone. So she laughed in his face, "Go ahead. There's no one left~"

Swatting the nearest tendril out of her way, she ran at him. Just before reaching him Mia dropped and slid between his legs, kicking out with her bladed foot, hoping to at least injure him. She wasn't aiming to kill, just incapacitate. Jumping to her feet, she whirled around and opened her torn parasol again. It wouldn't do much now, but at least it would slow down the impact of his razor tendrils if he got close.

"If I go back in a body bag it'll be the best release I've ever had."

Ian laughed loudly. "There's always someone," he said mockingly, even as his attacks were deflected. On the inside, he admired her fighting spirit and ferocity; they were certainly equals, at the very least. The blade tore through the inside of his thigh, spilling and inky black ichor on the floor behind her. The young man grunted angrily as he watched some of his body fall to the floor, but didn't mourn the loss. He would regenerate eventually, albeit somewhat slowly. The bit of ceiling was thrown at her while the rest of his body slid through the blown-through door.

"Twinkle twinkle little cat, how's it sound when you go splat?"

The sing-song rhyme echoed slightly through the bare room. In no time at all, he was in the parking lot, though he wasn't trying to escape. In fact, he had turned toward the room and stood under a streetlight and waited for her to come after him. He was still probing her tactics, working toward a quick and decisive kill once the time was right. "Come on down, little girl! Come down and let me grant your wish!"

Mia wiggled her way out of the debris, a few scrapes and bruises marring her near perfect porcelain skin. She picked pieces of wood from her hair, adjusting her miniature top hot so it sat perfectly crooked on her head again. Stepping out from the room Mia spotted Ian and rolled her eyes.

"Show off. Damage control is not going to like this." She muttered to herself in annoyance.

Reaching down, Mia picked up several splintered pieces of wood and broke them in half so their edges were sharp and jagged. Flipping them nonchalantly in her hands, she glanced at Ian from the corner of her eyes before chucking them at him one by one. The force she used to throw them made them slice through the air nearing speeds of bullets fired. With his tendrils so sharp and eager to split her open, she was taking no chances, and was staying a good distance away from him.

A smirk was sent back to the loli in the tiny top hat.

He was happy to see that she was following along, as he did enjoy the crowd's attention. Government secrets were one thing, but exposing them was something he quickly discovered to be enjoyable. Of course, he could't just show the entire world, so steps would be taken to keep things quiet. But tiny pockets of exposure never hurt anyone. Ian took a moment to glance around the group as Mia started to lift the bits of wood off the ground. He could only guess what she intended to use them for, but his question was promptly answered as she flung the debris toward him at speeds bordering the absurd.

The first two he was able to dodge, but another three embedded themselves into the tar-like texture of his body. Ian looked up at the girl rather pissed, his angry six-eyed glare shining through the darkness. "I don't think you're telling me the whole truth, little girl." The light pole next to him started to tilt as something began to rip it away from its asphalt home. Soon it was free, and leveled toward Mia like a cavalry's lance. "You said you read my file, and if that's true, you should know how to beat me." The makeshift missile was then hurled at the girl, albeit much slower than her improvised weaponry.

Mia rolled her eyes at the monster before her, a bored look on her face. He was beginning to bore her. Shifting on her feet, she watched as he hurled the light post at her confident she could dodge it, tear it apart and throw the pieces back, but as it neared her the familiar heavy feeling settled over her.

Bracing herself for impact as her eyesight began to fade, pain exploded through her torso as the post slammed into her. Mia was thrown back into the hotel room, hitting the opposite wall with a loud crack. Unconsciousness took hold as images and sounds flooded her. Voices filled her head and she recognized the room. The men were around a table, talking. About Ian. About her. A new experiment.

She awoke with a strangled gasp, it felt like all the bones in her upper body were broken, but she knew better, she was made more durable than that. Even still she could not move. Pain crippled her, along with a massive migraine. She was being used in a new type of field project. Mia was pissed; struggling to free herself from the debris proved difficult, so she waited for Ian to come looking.

Holding his hands in the air triumphantly, simulating a referee at a football game, Ian rejoiced loudly. "Gooooooaaaalllll!" he cried out into the night, his voice echoing off the walls that remained erect throughout the fight. With a smug look on his face and a fake strut in his step, Ian made his way back into the hotel room to inspect the damage. The room had been completely destroyed, with parts of the walls shared by the neighboring rooms crumbled on the ground. At the end of the pole against the back wall, he saw Mia struggling against the rubble that buried her.

"Tsk tsk tsk... took your eyes off the prize too long, wee bit." Ian's form quickly shifted from his monstrous form back to his more human shape. "I told you I wasn't going back, and I meant it. So... what do I do with you?" With a grin stretched across his pale face, Ian began to tap his chin, looking thoughtfully at the ceiling while onlookers continued to gawk through the breaches in the walls and the open face of the door.

"I could kill you... but that would be too easy. You'd like that too much. I could just send you back... knock your ass out and have you delivered back to that god-forsaken hell-hole with a pretty red bow all nice and pretty." The thought brought another smile to his face. "Or, you could just leave me the fuck alone and go about your merry business. Either way... I won't leave you like that." Wrapping his tendril-like appendages around the metal post, Ian pulled the heavy weight back enough to allow her the chance to escape, then set it down to the side. Over-use was starting to take it's toll on him, causing delays in the reshaping process. He hoped she did not want to continue fighting, as it would possibly end in his own demise.

Mia grunted, wheezing through clenched teeth. Though no bones were broken, significant damage had been done. Massive bruises covered her skin in purple and blue blotches, all excruciating to the touch. A smirk fell across her lips, a small bead of blood dripping down the side of her chin. "I'm not going to take you back, nor am I going." The Lolita pushed herself to her feet, using the nearly caved in wall to support the majority of her weight. "I have recently come across some... Information... And soon enough that place will be decorated with tinsel made of intestines."

Once again the girl adjusted her top hat, brushing dirt from her skirt, wincing as the movement caused waves of pain to wash over her. Mia was not going to be manipulated any longer, especially not if they were willing to risk her death in order to collect information. "Do what you will, but I am done."

Ian observed the young woman suspiciously, wondering why she would suddenly change her tune about bringing him in and having no options. It seemed like a fast jump to the other extreme, and that gave me cause for concern. Could she just be bluffing? Trying to lure him into bringing down his defenses so she could strike him down? Given the circumstances under which they found themselves in, Ian just could not take her word for it without doing a bit of investigating of his own.

Without blinking his multiple eyes, several tendrils shot from his body with the intent of securing her wrists and ankles. If successful, they wouldn't be painfully tight, but firm enough to keep her still while he determined whether or not she was being honest. Of course, she was quite a bit stronger than normal humans, so he could not determine if it would be enough. Ian relied on her injuries to reduce her available strength, though he was fairly certain that, even if the attack was successful, she would still be able to break free.

"You expect me to just believe that you're done just because you said so? What if I'm not done?"
