In the late 1970's, a British scientist, Dr. Harold Keating, successfully identified the warning signs for breakdowns in the human brain. Diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, dementia, chronic amnesia, and more were categorized and found to all share a common trait that could be located before symptoms even began, as early as age 6. But the western world was flush with human rights activists at the time, so testing any sort of vaccination was, simply put, illegal. That didn't mean it didn't happen.
Underground movements and intrepid doctors broke the rules and ran trials anyway. After all, those who suffered from the diseases were going to die anyway.
